Supreme Court AI technology is being developed to assist in the scheduling of court cases in Pakistan’s Supreme Court. Officials say the initiative aims to automate the case assignment process according to an AI-based policy while reducing human involvement in scheduling decisions.
The update was shared during a media briefing on Supreme Court services, where senior officials outlined ongoing digital transformation efforts and the expansion of online judicial services.
⚖️ AI-Based Case Scheduling Planned
Secretary to the Chief Justice, Mushtaq Ahmed, said the Supreme Court is working on transferring the authority of scheduling cases to an artificial intelligence system.
According to him, the proposed AI system will allocate cases based on predefined policies rather than manual intervention. The objective is to make the scheduling process more consistent and transparent while minimizing human involvement.
The initiative forms part of the Supreme Court’s broader efforts to modernize judicial administration through digital technology.

Officials stated that the AI system will schedule cases in accordance with an approved AI policy.
Once implemented, the technology is expected to automatically organize cases using established criteria rather than relying on manual decision-making.
The move reflects the judiciary’s continued focus on improving efficiency through digital innovation.
💻 More Court Services Moving Online
During the briefing, officials said the Supreme Court currently provides 35 public services, with most of them already available online.
Work is also underway to digitize 12 additional services, allowing lawyers, litigants, and the public to access more judicial services electronically.
The ongoing digital transformation is intended to improve accessibility and reduce administrative delays.
📂 NAB Case Categorization Continues
Supreme Court Registrar Sohail Laghari also briefed the media on ongoing case management.
He said the categorization of cases related to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is continuing following a recent court decision.
According to the registrar, nearly 300 NAB-related cases are currently pending before the Supreme Court.
