US naval and air forces toward Iran have significantly increased as Washington confirmed the deployment of major naval and air assets to the Middle East, with President Donald Trump saying the move is precautionary and aimed at closely monitoring Iran amid rising regional tensions.
Major US Military Deployment Confirmed
Speaking to reporters during a return flight from Davos, President Trump said a large American force is currently moving in Iran’s direction. He clarified that the deployment is a precautionary step and does not necessarily signal an immediate military operation.
Trump said the United States is positioning its forces close to Iran to closely observe developments and ensure readiness for any potential escalation. He added that Washington continues to track the situation carefully while avoiding unnecessary conflict.
Naval and Air Assets Moved to the Region
According to foreign media reports citing US defense officials, a carrier strike group and additional military units have already begun moving toward the Middle East. The deployment reportedly includes the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, along with warships and combat aircraft.
Officials said the movement of these assets aims to strengthen the US military presence in the region, improve response capability, and reinforce deterrence.
Trump Warns of Firm Response if Tensions Rise
President Trump said the United States possesses advanced military capabilities and does not wish to see further escalation. However, he warned that Washington remains prepared to act if necessary.
He claimed that US warnings previously led Iran to halt executions, adding that continued actions of that nature could have resulted in military consequences. Trump also said that countries engaged in trade with Iran may soon face a 25 percent tariff, signaling increased economic pressure.
US Keeps Close Watch on Iran’s Nuclear Program
Trump reiterated that the current military movement does not automatically indicate an attack but emphasized that the situation is under constant review. He warned that any attempt by Iran to restart or expand its nuclear weapons program would trigger a decisive response from the United States.
At the same time, he stated that Washington remains open to dialogue if Tehran chooses to pursue diplomatic engagement.
Regional Security and Strategic Positioning
US officials say the deployment of naval and air forces is intended to enhance regional stability, protect American interests, and ensure rapid operational readiness across the Middle East. The move reflects Washington’s broader strategy to maintain strategic pressure while keeping diplomatic options available.
