Heavy Rainfall Expected Across Pakistan From Today as the Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast widespread rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds across the country, with the system likely to continue until March 30.

According to the department, a westerly weather system has entered southwestern Balochistan and is expected to intensify by March 27, affecting multiple regions with heavy rain, snowfall, and possible hailstorms.


Weather System to Impact Most Regions

The ongoing weather system is expected to impact:

  • Balochistan

  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

  • Punjab

  • Islamabad

  • Gilgit-Baltistan

  • Azad Kashmir

  • Sindh

Authorities have warned of thunderstorms, gusty winds, and intermittent heavy rainfall, with snowfall expected in northern mountainous areas.


Heavy Rain and Hailstorm Alerts

In Balochistan, areas including Turbat, Gwadar, Quetta, Khuzdar, Chaman, and Zhob are expected to receive rain from March 24 to 25 and again from March 27 to 29, with chances of heavy rainfall and hailstorms at isolated locations.

Similarly, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, regions such as Swat, Chitral, Abbottabad, Peshawar, and Kohat may experience rain and thunderstorms from March 25 to 26, along with snowfall in upper areas.


Punjab and Islamabad Forecast

In Punjab and Islamabad, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Sialkot, and Bahawalpur, rain is expected:

  • From March 25 to 26

  • Again from March 28 to 30

Officials have also warned of hailstorms in some areas, which could damage crops and infrastructure.


Northern Areas to Receive Snowfall

In Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, including Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, and Neelum Valley, rain and snowfall are expected during:

  • March 25 to 26

  • March 28 to 30

Heavy snowfall may disrupt travel and road connectivity in these regions.


Rain Expected in Sindh

Parts of Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, and Jacobabad, are also likely to receive rain and thunderstorms between:

  • March 25 to 26

  • March 28 to 29

Some areas may also experience hailstorms.


Risk of Flooding and Landslides

Authorities have issued warnings for potential hazards:

  • Flash flooding in Balochistan (March 25–28)

  • Flash floods in local streams in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

  • Landslides in upper KP, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir

Residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary travel.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has urged citizens to:

  • Stay updated with weather alerts

  • Avoid traveling to mountainous areas during heavy snowfall

  • Take precautions against flooding and landslides

  • Secure weak structures during strong winds

Farmers have also been advised to protect crops from hailstorms and heavy rain.
