Barkhan crush plant attack where armed assailants abducted three workers and targeted a nearby police post

Barkhan Crush Plant Attack Leaves 3 Workers Abducted, Police Post Targeted after unidentified armed assailants launched a late-night attack on a construction-related crush plant in Balochistan’s Barkhan district, escalating security concerns in the region.

The incident took place at a crush plant operated by a private construction contractor engaged in road development and infrastructure work in a remote area of the district. Officials confirmed that gunmen stormed the facility, opened fire, and abducted three laborers before fleeing the scene.

Armed Assault on Construction Facility

According to police sources, the attackers first targeted the crush plant of a construction company involved in road projects. Heavy gunfire was reported during the assault, creating panic among workers present at the site.

The armed men abducted three laborers belonging to the Musakhel area and took them to an undisclosed location. The kidnapped workers were employed on daily wages at the plant, which processes stones and materials used in road construction.

Authorities said the sudden attack forced an immediate suspension of operations at the facility.

Police Post Also Targeted

In addition to the assault on the plant, the attackers reportedly struck a nearby police post established for security coverage of the project site.

Officials stated that three police personnel stationed at the checkpoint were disarmed at gunpoint. The assailants seized official weapons and fled the area before reinforcements could arrive.

No casualties among police were reported, but the incident raised concerns about the vulnerability of security deployments in remote project zones.

Machinery Damaged, Work Halted

Initial assessments indicate that machinery at the crush plant sustained partial damage due to gunfire. Equipment used for stone crushing and material processing was affected, disrupting ongoing construction supply operations.

Project activity has been temporarily halted following the incident, pending security clearance and risk assessment.

Company officials have acknowledged the attack and are coordinating with law enforcement agencies regarding workforce safety and site protection.

Search Operation Underway

Security forces launched a search operation immediately after the attack. Teams from local police, Levies, and the Frontier Corps (FC) were deployed to track down the perpetrators and secure surrounding areas.

Checkpoints have been reinforced, and patrol activity increased to prevent further incidents. However, as of the latest updates, neither the abducted workers have been recovered nor any suspects apprehended.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing, with intelligence gathering and ground searches continuing in nearby mountainous terrain.

Pattern of Attacks on Development Projects

Security analysts note that the incident reflects a broader pattern of attacks targeting construction activity in parts of Balochistan.

Road building crews, infrastructure contractors, and associated security personnel have faced intermittent threats in recent years, particularly in remote districts where large-scale development projects are underway.

Experts suggest such assaults are often aimed at disrupting infrastructure progress, deterring investment, and creating fear among labor forces.

Administration Tightens Security

Following the incident, district authorities have ordered heightened security measures across sensitive project locations.

Additional patrol units have been deployed, and construction firms have been advised to review on-site safety protocols.

Officials have also appealed to residents to report suspicious activity promptly to help prevent further security breaches.

Company Response

Representatives of the construction firm confirmed the attack and said they are in contact with the families of the abducted workers.

They added that the company is cooperating fully with security agencies and will resume operations only after clearance from authorities.
